During this time Compuware has committed funding to and in-kind support for various health projects. Over the past 12 months, Compuware has assisted the National Heart Foundation to develop an innovative IT heart health workplace education program. To support this program, Compuware Asia-Pacific hosts an Executive Charity Golf Day. Our guests help to raise $15,000 for the National Health Foundation (NHF). Compuware Computer Science SchoolThe University of Sydney's Foundation for Information Technology initiated the Computer Science School in 1996 and approached Compuware to be sponsor. The Computer Science School brings together talented young people for an intensive week of computer programming and related activities at the Department of Computer Science, University of Sydney. Goals of the Compuware Computer Science School are:
OptimalJ Education Access ProgramOptimalJ is an advanced development environment from Compuware enabling the rapid design, development and modification of J2EE applications. Now, through this unique program available only to colleges and universities, instructors have the opportunity to share with students a product that makes short work of Java development by shielding developers from the complexities of J2EE. By simply choosing to include OptimalJ as part of the Java development curriculum, Compuware will supply either stand-alone (instructor and student PC) or concurrent (server) temporary and upgrade product licenses for OptimalJ, free of charge. This also includes Active Learning Modules, tutorial material, white papers and much more. Learn more about the University Program: Australian Computer Society FoundationAs the only IT-focused scholarship facilitator in Australia, the ACS Foundation will help to improve access to IT education and strengthen the IT industry by offering over 100 scholarships and disseminating between $3-5 million of educational grants annually by its fifth year of operation. Compuware is a major contributor to the scholarship program promising $100,000 a year over 5 years. According to former ACS President, Mr John Ridge, the Foundation has been established to facilitate private and public sponsorship of IT higher education and research projects. He believes it will encourage more people to undertake IT studies by making them more accessible. Macquarie UniversityCompuware and Macquarie University have joined forces to provide an industry-sponsored cadetship program for IT graduates. The year-long program, enables graduating students from Macquarie's Division of Information and Communication Sciences to work within the University's IT Services Unit for twelve months to add work experience to their undergraduate degree. Throughout the year they spend up to three months working within the industry, providing them with valuable industry insight. Employees purchase and donate toys & books for boys & girls aged from 0-12 yrs old. Gifts include vouchers, sports toys, games, puzzles, art sets, radios etc. The gifts are placed under a Xmas tree in Compuware's main reception before being collected and distributed by the Smith Family. Bandage Bear DayFor the past couple of years Compuware Sydney had supported 'Bandaged Bear Day'. Monies raised go to the Children's Hospital at Westmead who treat over 50,000 patients every year from newborn babies to adolescents. Their ailments range from colds and broken bones to open heart surgery and kidney transplants. The very sickest of children from all over NSW and Australia come to The Children's Hospital at Westmead for treatment. In order for the hospital to continue to provide a premium level of care and support for both the patients & their families the community's support is required. |
